NFS file sharing with a unix / IRIX box

Anybody got a concrete procedure for enabling a basic shared folder? I just want to transfer some files from the IRIX box to my Mac using a simple shared folder, I've tried NFS Manager and Disk Utility but I just can't get it to work.
There is a folder already shared from the IRIX box, it's listed in exportfs. What do I have to do to mount this on the Mac so that I can copy the files out?
Thanks!

In the end I used my ReadyNAS with the IRIX box, mounted a share on it as nfs, and copied my stuff to it. The ReadyNAS also supports afp so I can quickly access the files, the knock-on effect is that the data is already on my backup device (the ReadyNAS), although not important enough to keep multiple copies of so I didn't go mad copying it again.
