Need help importing unix video clips from DVD

I'm trying to import video clips from a friend who uses the Unix software, and OS I presume. Here's an example of how they're labelled: VTS011.VOB
I can open them in my DVD player and they play fine. I can open them in Quicktime player, where only the first few seconds plays, though the player doesn't identify any problems. I can export mpeg4 and quicktime movies, but again they only contain the first few seconds of video and no audio.
I'd sure appreciate some help here. Even if what I need to do is get my friend to export these clips in a format I can use.
Thanks.

You need to use MPEG STREAMCLIP to convert the footage.
