Which password? database password itself or application password?
Case1: Your database Passwords: These passwords are stored in DBA_USERS hashed, assuming you are in 10g. You can refer to: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/statviews_4174.htm
Case2: Application Password: You can define the column as a varchar2 data type (I keep you defining the length) and then use DBMS_CRYPTO package which encrypt and decrypt stored data. For more details please read; http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/d_crypto.htm
