Can you disable Newstand or the Gaming Center?

I don't use the Newstand or Gaming center so is there a way to remove them from my phone? I know they can't be deleted like other Apps can but is there a way to hide or disable them through iTunes?

Monopoly QED.....you aint going to win this; philosphically and ethically its plain wrong and I have hunch you know it too.
Cheers.
That's a ridiculous choice of words.  Apple does not have a monopoly on smart phones nor on cellular services.  You CHOSE to purchase and activate an iPhone, over the numerous options available to you.  Having made that choice, yes, you are bound to the terms and conditions of the software USE License.  You do not own iOS and as such, you do not get to determine how it is to be implemented.  The same goes for any proprietary software for which someone purchases a right to use license - the owner of the intellectual property gets to decide how it is deployed.  Don't like it? Then choose an alternative product - it's not like there's a shortage of choice when it comes to smartphones.
I can understand someone being disgruntled about a feature or lack thereof, but the term monopoly has absolutely no relevance to this whole discussion.
